SIRACUSA

Its name comes from the Sicilian Syraka which means city rich in water because of the numerous streams and a marshy area. Defined by Cicero "the most beautiful of all the Greek cities", together with the nearby necropolis of Pantalica was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2005.
